A few days ago I pasted together my first chapter of TRtS, edited it and then sent it off to three betas. Okay, one was a friend from whom I expected a reasonably glowing review, but the other two were proper betas, who would not have held back if my prose sucked.
That's not to say it's come back without some comments. I drift into a passive voice on occasions and there's a couple of typos Word deemed not to pick up, but overall the reports are of a pacy, readable story that grabs the reader and doesn't overwhelm them with tech.
Exactly what I wanted to achieve, so win!
